Slack is a chat software. Slack has hook's to provide communication from your tools to your team. Jenkins can send notification from all your jobs to your team. It can use channels to send especific notification for specific teams. Here I will demonstate how to implement a simple Jenkins pipeline that will connect to a Hubot we deploy in OpenShift 3 and approve a pipeline step using Slack. Setting Up Slack. The first thing you will need is a Slack workspace that you are able to configure. You can create one at slack.com for free. Then find the Hubot app at /apps/manage. Jenkins can then add comments to tickets or update ticket statuses. Connect Jenkins to Slack using the Jenkins Slack Plugin. This allows Jenkins to post various notifications to Slack for you after a build is complete, as you can see below. That’s all it takes.
